Information

As each independent school sets its own entrance exam, there can be various structures and question types across these exams.

However, the majority of these exams consist of English and Maths papers demanding longer written and detailed answers, and including multi-part maths questions and creative writing tasks.

In our independent school mocks, we have incorporated the most complex and demanding styles of questions that usually appear in these exams.

Therefore, sitting these mocks will be excellent practice for a child aiming for a place at an independent school.

Independent school exams are often very challenging. They test children’s analytical skills and ability to apply their knowledge to unfamiliar situations.

With our ‘Level One, Level Two, Level Three’ system, your child will have the chance to gradually build up their skills and confidence so that they are ready for the real exam.

For these challenging exams, it is essential that children develop excellent exam techniques. Just like subject knowledge, these techniques must be learned and practised.

Therefore, for each independent mock paper, you will receive a video of a mock expert completing the paper, explaining how to approach each question, and giving useful advice on exam techniques and tips for success.

Difficulty Level

Three

These papers will be pitched at a slightly higher difficulty level than the real exam, with a few questions designed to really challenge your child. Having sat a ‘Level Three’ mock, your child will be extremely well prepared for the real exam, which is likely to be easier than this.

      Exam Difficulty Levels Explained

      At Examberry, we realise that it may take your child a while to get used to sitting an exam in real test conditions. It is completely normal for your child to feel overwhelmed the first time they sit in an exam hall. If children do not perform as well as they hope in the first mock exam they sit, they should not be disheartened; we believe that they should be given another chance to learn and to improve.

      We manage this learning process by offering three different difficulty levels:

      One

      Most of the questions in these papers will be pitched at the expected difficulty level of the real exam, with a few easier questions since these mocks take place several months before the real thing.

      Two

      These papers will be pitched at the expected difficulty level of the real exam, with a few slightly harder questions than the ‘Level One’ paper.

      Three

      These papers will be pitched at a slightly higher difficulty level than the real exam, with a few questions designed to really challenge your child. Having sat a ‘Level Three’ mock, your child will be extremely well prepared for the real exam, which is likely to be easier than this.

      What does my child gain from the ‘Level One, Level Two, Level Three’ system?

      • The chance to learn from each exam and steadily improve. In our analysis of your child’s performance, we will identify the areas they found challenging so that they can work on these before sitting another mock.
